Free Office from IBM

February 22nd, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Guide, How To, Software, Tools, Windows XP

Experienced PC mates would still recall the infamous Lotus SmartSuite, which was a veritable alternative to Microsoft’s office program for many years. Following this tradition. IBM is now providing a freeware office suite called Lotus Symphony.

This software comes in three sets. Documents, presention and spreadsheets. Irrespective of the type of document you are processing, everything is included under one interface, stringed clearly with tabs. On the right, Symphony displays contextually important setting options like character or paragraph formats, effects, positioning operations.

It is important to note here that the Lotus program operates well with office suites as well. It saves and reads the OpenDocument format from OpenOffice abd works well with Microsoft files too.
