google docs

Even though Google Docs and Spreadsheetd is not complete replacement for MIcrisoft Office, it certainly enables teamwork on documents via internet. Unfortunately the new Office 2007 formats, for example, are not yet supported by Google.

Therefore, first save the documents in an older format, for example, Word 97-2006 documents though ‘File | Save as’. Google also restricts the size and number of documents that can be uploaded. One text document cannot be larger than 500 KB and with embedded images, its size cannot exced 2 MB. A spreadsheet can contain a maximun of 10,000 lines, 256 columns, 50,000 cells, and 20 workbooks. In all, a user can have 1,000 documents, 1,000 images, and 200 spreadsheets at tis disposal with the search giant. To tranfer file visit http://docs.google.com.

Chinese Search Engines Sued over Pirated Music

February 9th, 2008 No Comments   Posted in Internet, News, Song

The no. 1 popular Chinese search engines are being sued after ignoring copyright laws on music downloads. This isn’t new or surprising news because China is a bit of a free-for-all when it comes to copyright issues.

According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an association representing the recording industry worldwide, over 99 percent of all music files distributed in China is pirated. And of course, most movies and software in China are pirated too. While this is business as usual, and the record companies are trying to reign things in.

First, the biggest search engine in China Baidu, is being sued by three music industry giants. They’ll be up against Universal Music, Sony BMG Music Entertainment (Hong Kong), and Warner Music Hong Kong. They companies are asking a court in Beijing to order Baidu to remove all links to their music.

The same companies, along with Gold Label Entertainment are suing another search engine called Sogou for the same reason. Yahoo China was already sued and lost but they haven’t complied with the ruling made this past December. IFPI estimates the size of the music market in China for legitimate music market is $76 million. That’s less than 1 percent of global recorded music sales.

Google Toolbar v5 Released, Supports Gadgets and Saving Settings Online

December 18th, 2007 No Comments   Posted in Google, News, Tools

Google Blog announced the newest Google Toolbar. Some of the new features include the ability to add gadgets to the toolbar, an improved AutoFill, saving settings online, and clipping content using Google Notebook.

You can accessorize with Google Gadgets: We first released custom buttons with search and feed functionality, and now we’ve added support for many Google Gadgets. In Toolbar, gadgets can even interact with the pages you’re on, like with the Google Product Search gadget, you can just highlight the name of something you’d like to buy on any page and do a quick price comparison right there.

Google Notebook is built in: We realized that saving links as bookmarks to come back to is great, but not quite enough. So now you can collect text and images, too and put them into notebooks right from the Toolbar.

You’ll get suggestions instead of error pages: If you mistype a URL or a page is down, now the Toolbar will give you that familiar “Did you mean” with alternatives, like when you do a Google search.

This video tell about the new features :-
